Are you talking about a mortgage lender for example Santander or a broker? Which lender has been removed from the FSA register? By the way that can easily be checked so don't believe it till you have checked it out. If it is only a broker that the letter refers to ignore it - if a broker is removed from the register (malpractice or lack of fees) there is no obligation to use a replacement who say they have to. Please can you offer more detail?Used to be an advisor but no longer!

There's no such thing as a stupid question. My mortgage company has been struck off the fsa register, i have recieved a letter from a different company who is on the register saying they are now in charge of my account and must pay them from now on! As i have no signed contract with this company do i have to pay them and do i still have to pay my old mortgage lender??
But there is such a thing as a really stupid question.0 -
Why are the 3 responses above so crass? You can see the person is a newbie and you find it funny to take the michael? Have you ever thought that this could be a scam and that some people could fall for it. Having just done a google search and looked on various industry websites, I cannot find a lender being struck off the FSA register, so this is potentially a scam and someone being asked to provide bank details so they can be taken to the cleaners.Used to be an advisor but no longer!

Sadly the number of people posting about things like this, trying any route to avoid paying their mortgage debts through obscure loopholes exceeds the number of newbies asking genuine questions.
There are a number lenders who are no longer authorised by the FSA (DB, Advantage etc)
Bravo, can you tell us who your original lender was and who has written to you?
Unless this is a scam then you will continue to pay your mortgage.0 -
Jimbo,
This is why I asked in my first response who the original lender was, and then this can be easily checked out - it was the two responses after mine that were about as useful as a chocolate fireguard.
There are people who are looking for loopholes but then there are people who are genuinely seeking help. It will be quite easy once we know who the original lender is to determine if this is genuine or not, but to dismiss without even looking at it (I am not aiming this at you) is only going to put people off.
If they are looking for a way out of paying a genuine mortgage, once proven I would be the first to say they have more chance of a snowball fight in hell than getting out of the mortgage - but first lets see what the genuine situation is!Used to be an advisor but no longer!

I agree with you. It is great that you are trying to help genuine posters. I guess the previous posters are fed up trying to explain to people who are trying to dodge their commitments.0 -
Did the letter include a link to click on?0
