But the service, of being able to travel with discounted tickets, is unusable before the railcard is with the consumer.
So how can it have started?
Clearly it is not as simple as saying "it was there, so you could've used it".
I get your point, but didn't the OP state he was buying the tickets early to get the best discount. Meaning he was buying in advance of the journey.
In the same way I brought my tickets in May for a July journey. I didn't actually have the railcard at the moment of my online ticket purchase, as I didnt purchased the railcard until mid June.
The only stipulation was I had a current in date card with me when I travelled. Which I did.0 -

Re-thinking about the 'personalisation' aspect. if an item such as a mug, tshirt etc is personalised then that would have no re-sale value so I understand why the regs would not apply. But this is just a piece of paper so how can it be classed the same?0

A piece of paper that costs time and money to print and mail, time and money to process payment and refund, time and money in dong the books.Declutterbug-in-progress.⭐️⭐️⭐️ ⭐️⭐️0 -
But that could be said of any item purchased on line! The issue is the 7 day cooling off period. No where does it say that it does not apply to this sort of thing. The way that you are guided through the F&F railcard site to buy the rail card does not make it clear until you pay for the card that you cannot use it (something that you have paid for) until the card is physially in your hand. So if you want to book the tickets ahead you can't do it!0

Or to use your phrase...littledorrit wrote: »...that could be said of any item purchased on line!littledorrit wrote: »So if you want to book the tickets ahead you can't do it!
You can book and pay for railcard discounted tickets online before you receive the actual railcard.
You were told this in posts #5, #7, #17 and #22.0 -
But you can't use the tickets you buy unless the rail card turns up in time!0
