Just got it up and running and I'm quite impressed. It's fairly noisy, and the 'Toner Save' button is a bit fiddly (needs to be held down for about a second to work - hold it down too long and it prints a test page!) but for the price what do you expect.

there is a toner save option in the print preferences in any windows program before u print, however it is rather faint! Since the refills seem so cheap, i've turned this option off now.

Yes, I noticed that, but it doesn't appear to 'stick' though. If you print a second time with another app you have to manually set it again.

The fact that the printer software loads at boot up was also a bit annoying, but easily fixed with a registry tweak.

The fan noise is rather excessive - I got so fed up with the noise that I disconnected the fan a few weeks ago and it's been working fine (and quietly) ever since.

(Getting the case off was a bit of a performance but was well worth it :j )

Hmmm, that's odd. I simply tried printing from Notepad (setting the Toner Save Mode to 'On' under Printer Preferences), then ran Word and went to Printer Properties - Toner Save Mode was set to 'Printer Setting' (rather than 'On').

I read somewhere that the toner saver option doesnt actually save that much ink. I never have mine on that option cos the toner's are so cheap to refill anyway. Two bottles of toner for around £10, thats enough for 4 refills, each refill prints approx 4000 pages!

Thanks, that's useful to know. Do you have the ML2010? If so, how easy is it to refill, do you end up having to drill a hole etc...?

(I'm also assuming the cartridge isn't chipped?)

My dad refilled it for me, but i believe all you have to do is unscrew the plate at the side, remove a plastic cap with screwdriver, pour in toner and replace cap and side plate. Then give it a shake and stick it back into printer!

    Pretty easy I say.
