Studying with the OU - is it worth it/is the OU any good?

hi, I'd welcome feedback from any OU students out there. having left school at 15 20 years ago, I'm thinking about returning to studying. I can't afford to leave work and go to Uni, I've look at the OU in great detail and the courses I'm interested in sound great, but is the OU accepted at the same level as conventional unis? For example, if I do a degree in English, does it have the same standing as if I'd gone to Dundee Uni?

I of course understand it's going to be hard work studying and working, but I'd welcome comments from anyone who's currently studying with the OU - thanks.

The OU is very well thought of in most circles; its teaching quality is assessed as being excellent. Employers will also value the effort that you have put in by combining study and work; it's by no means a second best method of studying. Good luck!

If anything, an OU degree is more highly respected than many others (eg from Dundee). And the OU is very widely admired for the quality of its teaching.

Last August the OU was voted the top university for the second year running in a national student satisfaction survey.

Iam half way to an OU degree and can recomend it for the quality of its teaching.
I no longer work in Council Tax Recovery but instead work as a specialist Council Tax paralegal assisting landlords and Council Tax payers with council tax disputes and valuation tribunals. My views are my own reading of the law and you should always check with the local authority in question.

I appreciate all your comments, I'd no idea the OU was held in such high regard, so I'm starting to think I should maybe just go for it next year. Thanks.
