Help! Problem with builders

Hi,
The builders work is poor and I don't think he has the skill to sort out the problems. He's been here 2 weeks tomorrow.
we paid him for the first week of not fully complete work last Friday.

He wants paying for the rest (or most of it I guess) tomorrow.

Dh is going a bit nuts (very angry) and said we should just let him finish and pay for what will be a crap job. Also that it will get very stressful.

His tools are here. I am at home with a my baby and would be here on my own. He's been a nice bloke so far but none of the work is finished. The work he's done for his trade is good, the rest isn't (most of it).

I pointed out problems this morning and he said he'd take some time to try and put them right but did not do any of them today. he's laid a floor today and there is glue everywhere and gaps.

Any help please, he's meant to arrive at 8 in the morning.

There's a skip outside and his electrician and plumber were also meant to do work. We need a kitchen and have someone else who can do it.

Thanks

Not sure if I am too late but write to your builder detailing all the problems and asking him to put them right. Do not pay any more money at this stage. Once he has had the opportunity to put them right you can them get another tradesman in to quote for and finish the work, take the cost off what you owe the first builder for the work done to date. You must have a paper trail and by law you must give him the chance to put the work right before getting someone else in.

Yes. You cannot just throw him out, unless the work is of a very low standard. But if he fails to correct the issues, do as suggested. It would be worth taking photos of the work done, showing the problems.
