I don't think there is any help available.
Would it be possible to use the DLA money?
The car is obviously something you need so you could make that a priority for the DLA money to be spent on.

I have to say, you have been brave posting on here.

All I can say is that this is what the DLA is for, to help with your disabled childs transport.

Do you have anything you can sell on ebay or at car boot sales to raise enough money to mend the car.

Do you have any friends who could take a look at your car and try to mend it for you.

Sorry, I cant be more help.
make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.

If it's a crisis which it may or may not qualify for then you could chance an application for a crisis loan and you can pay it back out of your benefits. You won't get any free money/grants though as that is what the mobility component is supposed to be for.
    :footie:
:p Regular savers earn 6% interest (HSBC, First Direct, M&S) :p Loans cost 2.9% per year (Nationwide) = FREE money. :p

Low rate mobility does not go very far at all (20 quid a week) if you have to spend it on a two way 20 mile journey.
  • Hi.

I think it is worth talking to a benefits adviser if there is still anyone who provides this service in your area. The NAS has a benefits advice service which you can access via the telephone advice line if your son has a diagnosis of ASD.
It is worth checking that there are not other benefits you may be entitled to.

    Karen.
  • You wouldn't be able to get a crisis loan for the cost of this I'm afraid.
