The hnc is a much better qualification than the svq ... Ok it is not looked upon my the employers as this but it really was the one where I " learned" what the whole social care sector is about

I think the problem lies in your mindset towards the interview. If you've had several interviews without much success, but are a quite a confident person then, something has to change towards your approach.

Rehearse what you are going to say thoroughly, take a few deep breaths before you step in to the interview room and give assured answers without being to cocky.

The key really lies in your preparation.

    Best of Luck :)

Unfortunately the situation is not about what you've learned but a demonstrable account of vocational knowledge and competencies - it’s a box ticking exercise around the SVQ units.

I think you are right tbh and yes I have had a few interviews now so something should've came out of them by now, I do think it is my mind set, I feel fine and confident till I sit in the chair, I rehearse over and over what I want to say, but none of that comes out of my mouth.

I had the same problem when I was at uni and had to stand up in front of the class and do a speech, when we first were split into groups an I explained what I was like none of the group believed me as I am an outgoing confident person but by the end of the excercise they individually came to me and said well done as they could see I struggled with it. It's like my brain turns to mush

I have applied for level 4 but I keep being told that even though I am doing the role required for a level 4 they will not put me forward for it because i not doing it officially

It's very frustrating, I had the same convo with my line manager the other day ( she appears exasperated with me asking) and was told this time that if I want to do a level 4 I will need to transfer for over a year to a different unit ( the worst unit within the organisation doing the worst shift pattern)

I have experience in most areas of social care so am really looking more for the Monday to Friday days as I need off of shift work tbh

Could this be coming across at interview and be part of the problem?

I spose it is possible but I don't ever mention it, in interviews I have been in the assumption seems to be that I do work Monday to Friday days, in the interview I was at the other day, at the end one of the panel said to me, this job may require you to work later at night how do you feel about that, I said fine I do shifts just now do working late wouldn't be a problem ( its the whole lates onto earlys and nights that tires me out) he replied oh right that's good then if you also have that experience

So I don't think that comes across but I may be wrong, I am just not even applying for anything that involves gift work tbh
