Phoned about share purchase - is it a scam?

I got a phone call from a woman claiming she was phoning from New York, though her accent and the occasional background noise hinted at a call center in India.
She said she was acting on behalf of a company interested in buying Sky Shares (as it happens I've got a few, I'm not sure if share ownership details are publically available information though).
I reckon it is some sort of scam to get hold of share certificates or something, so I had an amusing 5 minutes listening to her.
I asked if she had my address, she said yes so I told her to write to me. She replied she could only make an offer by email, so I said I wasn't prepared to give her an email address and she should write. End of call.
Anyway, has anyone else had a similar call about share purchase or does anyone know what is behind this?

Yes, its a common scam, advanced fee fraud. In order to get your money, they will need some first, commonly for a bogus non-disclosure agreement.0 -

Yes Kermit, same accent & phone manner.. it could very well have been the same person.. excellent video warning.. well done for making it.
Subsequently I had a follow up call, I eventually lost my temper after I put the phone down on them and they rang back 4 times!0
