Laptop insurance for laptop purchased abroad?

Hello all! I had a look around and couldn't find any advice on here about this, and am scratching my head, so I would be very grateful for any help...

I spent three months in the USA at the beginning of this year, helping a friend on a website he is running. As a 'thank you', when I left, he bought me an expensive Apple laptop - which of course, was great - but I'm now struggling to get it insured.

The sticking point appears to be the fact that, for the insurance to be valid in the UK, I'd have to have proof of purchase within the UK - which of course, I don't have.

Does anybody have any experience with this? Or any suggestions of companies that would insure my laptop under these circumstances please?

So far, I have tried a number of laptop/tech-specific insurers, but with no success.

Thanks in advance for any help!

Don't put your trust into an Experian score - it is not a number any bank will ever use & it is generally a waste of money to purchase it. They are also selling you insurance you dont need.

Great, thanks - I'll check this out... though I have a feeling that one of the ones I checked before has the same issue with the lack of UK purchase...

Home insurance usually just requires proof of ownership. So can you register the machine with Apple? Take a couple of pics, record serial numbers etc.

You might have to specify the item on your home contents or you might already be covered - check your policy schedule.
