URGENT! Single bed needed now. Where to get?

Anyone know of ANYWHERE in centralish Scotland where you can just walk in and buy a decent single bed to take home?

Tried everyone in Yellow pages around me and no-one carries stock, it's all an 'order and wait' job. Online deliveries to my neck of the woods are not quick either. Live too far away to take advantage of 'next day' delivery option.

Don't have the luxury of time, need to buy today or tomorrow. Will travel if need be.

Must be a decent quality bed, not 'starter bed' or kids bed with hardly any support.

Be greatful for any ideas? So far internet search isn't throwing up much in Scotland.

Thanks everyone.

Depending where in central Scotland and how far you're willing to travel... Ikea?

Thanks malolo. We did think about Ikea this morning but after looking into it, it seems all their beds are 200cms in length which is too long for the area where the bed has to go.

A normal divan is 190cms (the length we have available is 193cms).

Nothing is ever easy is it? :)

Why not try Argos or Index?

Just checked my hall and nothing stacked up in there

Have you checked Argos? Or do you have to wait there for home delivery?

Argos and Index are only for home delivery....which can take at least a week unfortunately.

(You do surprise me Edinburghlass, lol. :))

I can't believe this is so hard! I've been on the phone all morning and still no joy.

    Thanks for suggestions though.

What about a used one from a house clearance place (stick a waterproof cover on in) until you can get a decent one from a shop?

Some of the big stores carry stock (Bensons for Beds)

Sorry to be nosey but why does it have to be today? Could you use an airbed for a couple of nights?

    ummm..... thinking thinking!!!

    Try this link

See if there is a localish freecycle group. Join that and see if anyone has one they don't want.

Thanks Jay-Jay and krishna, but I'm really fussy about beds and it would really have to be a new one. :)

We have a Bensons beside us and they don't carry stock (probabably as it's only a store in a store, if you know what I mean.)

We may have to end up using an air bed, but it's not ideal and would have to be a last resort.

If we have to order something, we wouldn't get it until the middle of next week at the very earliest, I'm told and an air bed just wouldn't do until then, I'm afraid.

I'm not quite ready to give up and admit defeat yet, lol. I can't believe there isn't anywhere that doesn't carry decent stock.

Might well open my own walk in and take away bed shop now!

I had the same problem once but managed to get one from a catalogue clearance shop who had just one in stock. Have you no little independant bed shops near you?

    Hope you get sorted :)
