    Hiya,

I have a 3 yr old and and 5 yr old, both boys. When funds are low we go for a picnic at the park, or race round the block on bikes etc.
Today, we drew treasure maps on a peice of A3 paper, stairs were mountains, boys bedroom a swamp (ha ha) our bedroom was a castle etc and we hid items in the house and drew an X on the map for the boys to find the items. Very funny!!

Wht not look for a little farm near you that let children go to pet the animals?? You could even phone the farmer beforehand and ask them to pretend that it's one of the animals birthdays aswell!!

Park & picnic if the weather is nice - always the cheapest fun and they just love to play :) If the weather is poor why not have a teddy bears picnic in the lounge...You can get cheap party plates and decorate them yourself for the teddys - tesco do a value range of white paper plates etc.

Are there any good museums around by you? We took our 2 year old to the Glasgow Transport Museum and he thought it was great fun - free of course too :)

How about one of those soft play areas - where they have the bouncy castles and huge ball pools.

Petting farm sounds like a good idea - children can quite often hold smaller animals which young children love.
