Scottish Power misleading Tariifs for existing supplier EON
I am currently with Eon and have began the process to switch to Scottish power (SP) fixed till April 2014 - What concerns me is that the literature I received from SP what I pay with Eon on my current contract vs SP rates. Their Info fo0r Eon is incorrect and misleading. They quoteEon's rates as follows:
Electricity
primary Unit Rate as 24.276 per Kwh (my last bill up to 4/11/12 shows a rate of 23.12)
Secondary Unit Rate as 11.928 (my last bill up to 4/11/12 shows a rate of 11.36)
Gas:
primary Unit Rate as 8.573 per Kwh (my last bill up to 4/11/12 shows a rate of 8.165)
Secondary Unit Rate as 3.73(my last bill up to 4/11/12 shows a rate of 3.55)
In addition - they Quote Eon's discount rate as 8% for each fuel (it is actuall 10% per fuel)
So their margins look much better than they actually are
I have a spraedsheet I keep which calculates all the necessary figures to produce a bill (I was only 1p out on Eon's last bill)
Plugging the Tariff rates In for my area for SP (with their lesser discount - the bill is approx the same - not cheaper
Granted the Fixed Price contract till April 2014 should work in my favour - but I stll feel as I am being mislead here - thoughts anyone ??

Don't forget the VAT, it's added extra on most bills I've seen
Use an independant comparison site to find the best deal for you.0 -
Thanks for the advice see what they have done if you add the VAT on at source - you get the primary/secondary rates quted by SP - then my bill is totalled up with all Units then VAT @ 5% is added at that point Presumably SP do not construct their bills with the VAT added afterwardsDon't forget the VAT, it's added extra on most bills I've seen

Scottish Power bills show VAT as an extra line item.
Most comparisons however are shown including VAT as that is the price a domestic customer pays. (The comparison should detail how it is handling VAT)0
