Reds, golds, greens here too - I like my tree to look very traditional and no tinsel is allowed anywhere near much to OH's disgust!
I am toying with the idea of a smaller tree in red and white for my office.0 -
Living room - reds, golds, garlands, gingerbread men, traditional, homemade stuff.
Dining room - bright colours (pink, blue, purple, etc) and white tinsel.
Conservatory - shabby chic and scandinavian.
If there's anything in the rest of the house it's usually anything goes and/or quite fun and tacky.
Basically this way if I see anything at all I like, it can find a place it belongs somewhere in the house!:rudolf: :rudolf: :rudolf: :rudolf: :rudolf:0 -

Living room tree (mine) is red and silver
Landing tree (family tree) miss mash of glass, traditional, wooded and home made
Children's bedrooms (got a couple of trees in the sale last year) they will have whatever they fancy, old leftovers, bought some tinsel etc0 -
I always do red and gold apart from one year where I tried blue, silver and purple and it didn't feel christmassy at all

This year,as I'm decorating the new house with the living room in grey and plum,my Christmas decs will be red and gold with a bit of purple/plum used in a way that works. Not sure whether an ounce of silver could be added -doubt it- but I'll play around and find the best way to keep the red and gold in while looking right in the room
Christmas isn't Christmas without red, green and gold:DIf women are birds and freedom is flight are trapped women Dodos?0 -
I normally got for the gold, red with green tree. However, My OH was allowed to buy the christmas tree about 2 years ago as our last one was very ropey and he come home with a 6ft white one
So now our colour scheme is White, Blue & silver with family made trinkets put on the tree. Future goals:
Become debt free.
Beat Depression.
Be happy & healthy0 -
When I was younger it was a huge tinsel fest, so much so that at one point you couldn't even see the tree there was that much on it, I have since gained some taste and self control.
Our tree decorations now are red and gold and I usually put some sparkly hanging stuff on it, can't remember what it's called at the moment but it looks good. Don't think I will be doing that this year though since getting a new puppy with a mouth that likes to chew everything!
My favourites are always the fairy lights, white on the tree and coloured elsewhere. I'm feeling very Christmasey since reading these threads in this section now.

Yes me too
We have some star shaped fairy lights twisted around our bed frame and I have recently started putting them on in the evenings. We also have tiny red ones in the kitchen draped over the bookshelves and while they are there all year, I only turn them on at this time of year and I have just done that and they look so pretty

No theme, I have young children who adore anything hey can lay their hands on, so generally red, hold, silver, purple. With homemade decorations and mixes of baubles and bows etc! Nothing matches, it's normally unevenly distributed, but we love it, and I might confess to a little tweaking once they've gone to bed!0
