The thing is a PC may be the same internally now as a MAC but a PC gets so bogged down with anti virus software and virus and mailware it slows down after a year. Were as a mac will be running the same speed after 5 years!
Have you actually used a PC in the last few years? I've not had a virus in this decade, nor the last. The lenovo lappy I'm typing on "just works" as well today as the day I bought it, my desktop PC boots into windows in a little under 30 seconds, performs every task I ask of it (including games) and, besides a storage upgrade (to a little over 3Tb), is the same as 4 years ago when I built it.
I've no doubt macs are good, and I really like their keyboards, but windows based machines can be just as good.

You should see the boot times on Windows 8.

8 seconds to the login screen and then 4 seconds to a responsive and fully functional desktop.

I do have an SSD though :)

Excellent point. Apple user are overcharged so they can have that premium service. Like buying a £60k Merk....

May provide personal gratification but it doesn't mean it actually achieves a different result.

Combine that with a nice shiny 27" Hazro monitor like this one as that is the part you will actually be looking at and you're good to go.

That is a seriously good looker on that monitor.

  • This old question again, should have used the 'search' button as there are no end of threads on this already.

I should've known someone would pick up on that. :o

I actually really like Hazro monitors though. They always choose really nice LCD panels and they put them in nice aluminum casing with the minimum amount of clutter in the bezel.

I have a slightly older 26" model with only 8 bits per sub-pixel and the viewing angles and response times are fantastic, as is the colour reproduction. I'd love to upgrade to that one, or the 30" version, both of which are cheaper than the Apple cinema display :)
