dvd rip software

i want to rip a film off my dvd. the dvd was recorded off a dvd recorder so it's not protected. what is the best software to use?

I like AVS Video Tools (http://www.avsmedia.com/) you have to register it (about £25) if you want to avoid having the ripped video having a watermark in it. It allows conversion of video file types, as well as ripping all or a portion of video.

To rip DVDs use DVD Shrink and save to an .iso, to burn them use DVD Decrypter. Both are freeware programs.

Mke sure you are recording as DVD Video and not some other format. Also try to use minus R discs as they are a lot more compatible.
