Someone may have already answered your question.
I may be wrong but I am sure that if your OH passed his test in a manual then he should be allowed to drive both manual and automatic with his driving license. Although saying that not sure if it would affect his insurance policy??.

I was told if you pass your test in a [STRIKE]spanish[/STRIKE] manual car then you can drive both manual and auto but if you pass in an auto then you can only drive an auto, that was about 10 years ago though by a driving instructor lol

That is correct. If you have a manual license then you can drive an auto.

Once you have driven a good automatic, you won't want a manual again. I really do not know why more people in this country do not drive autos, with the amount of traffic we have, being in an auto is so much safer on busy roads and in traffic jams.

If your other half has a company car, ask them to get in touch with the lease company (if they have one) and see if they can get a week long demonstrator in with an auto box. This is quite a common thing to do with lease companies. Or see if he can swap cars with someone with an auto for a week or two. Would work pay for a hire car?
