If it's your first shop then fair enough but if it's your 2nd, 3rd, or 4th etc . shop then you've paid peanuts so why return ?
... because £10 for 3 boxes of chocolates is not peanuts if the glitch hasn't worked? I don't put these in the same category as buying cereal etc which we would normally buy/use, these are mainly gift items and therefore I see them differently (particularly due to the up front cost involved).
I agree that returning every time something didn't work would be too much (as would returning all your fillers), but I have returned chocolates over the past week or so as the deal did not kick in.
A few were down to timing with the Fingers getting stopped last weekend, a few more when I chose the wrong Green & Blacks and a final one where I did a test shop on Thornton's. If I had kept them, I would be £50 down on buying these which would then negate the savings made on the other shops - ultimately I have bought more chocolates now than I normally would (as most will have) and would likely not have bought these particular chocolates/gifts but for this saving.
Even where I have used the APG as part payment, I have had to put the cash in up front and kept adding cash to this for all the fillers - if you keep a check on this you will see that it soon mounts up, even when you are getting significantly discounted chocolates and biscuits, they are not free (and if you look at how many times you have put petrol in your car, clearly this is an additional cost as well).
In summary, I took my failed shops back and am happier with myself as a result and don't feel that I will have spoiled it for anything else - As could have said no but refunded without quibble. But as you say, some people will take it on the chin but the willingness to do so may be seen in relation to how many of these glitch shops have actually worked for them.
Many thanks
