In debt and scared

Been in debt for quite sometime, went throught he stage of burrying my head in the sand, then instructed a debt management company to help me sort stuff out, and paying £150 a month to them still to share between my creditors, now the creditors seem to think they no longer accept my payment offers and some threatening court, given defaults etc etc. nowim scared big time, really depressed, obviously lost all credit worthyness and to be honest yes its my fault and really never ever want credit again. The only secuirty i have for me and the kids is my home which is mortgaged, i have never ever missed a payment, what is the most these creditors and dca can do regarding unsecured debts?? i do have debts but have always paid my mortgage and am scared that they could force me to sell my home. CCJ i can deal with to an extent as i cant get credit and to be honest dont want credit anymore. Really feel like thowing in the towel kids at the moment only thing keeping me going! Total debts about £29k scared to answer the phone and the door too at the moment and when i go out every window and door locked at fear of them commng to my home and clearing it, i dont have a lot but what i have got is mine and the kids scared about havin to potentially start all over again. majority of the debts is charges too i think which is what got me into loads of debt in the first place.

Hi there,
You've taken the first scary few steps by coming on here and asking for help - there are some amazing people who use this site so all I can say is take their advise.
I know what you are going through - I too am in a bit of a mess but sadly I can't say I've never missed a mortgage payment (at the moment I'm two months in arrears). Don't be scared, we're all here to deal with our debts together.xxDFW #414, MoneySaver, Income Booster

hi firstly you need to get out of the debt management company if you go with cccs , or cab they will do EXACTLY the same for free so thats another £150, towards your debts, i have also read somewhere that they hold more respect with creditors as creditors know you pay a fee to a debt man company - money that could be going to them. if you set yourself up with them then if you take any calls or letters you can just advise them to deal with cab (whoever) who are acting on your behalf

I think that out of the £150 i pay to the debt management comapny takes about 25 as their fee. it was hard enough for me facing facts and going through the tough job of listing debts and them writing to creditors to offer payments, am scared of doing this agan.
My main issue is regarding potentially loosing my home, as i said originally mortgage payments maid in full on time and never missed any payments, Can unsecured debts / creditors force me to sell my home surely the idea of unsecured means not secured on home etc therefore do they have the right to force me to sell the house?:T This site is great!
