Advice needed to stop me getting a SNAD!!

I need some help please, after making a basic error, but one that might get me a SNAD.

I have listed a manual (non-digital)35mm SLR film camera which was given to me by my ex-girlfriends' mother. I have seen her using it successfully, which is why I listed it as " in good used working condition" . However I did not establish that before listing having never put any film through it myself. I forgot that it took a battery which I reckon is flat as I cant see the light meter reading through the aperture.

I would pull the listing but it has one bid on it. I contacted the bidder explaining the situation to let me know if this was a problem and/or to withdraw their bid, however I am worried that I may get a SNAD and it may cost me otherwise in P&P charges at least.

I would really appreciate some advice please, feeling a bit stupid for the schoolboy error. It has 9 watchers at the moment so it could get another bid at any time.

As above, remove bid and pull listing. Better that than risk all manner of problems Later.

  • How long does the listing have to go? If it still has several days, it might be worth checking the battery type and replacing it if you've plenty of time before the listing ends. A variety of obscure button cell batteries such as those used in manual cameras are available on eBay and other places (e.g. 7dayshop.com, and maybe even Jessops or Boots though they're likely to be overpriced), and most of the eBay listings are BIN.
If the light meter still won't work with a new battery, I'd pull the listing, selecting "error in listing" as the reason, and then consider relisting at as faulty.
  • Thank you all, I have removed the bid and ended the listing, and sent a follow up apology email to the bidder...live and learn...
