Offered partial refund for broken item...

Bought 3 separate items of vintage jewellery from a seller almost 2 weeks ago. Very pleased except for the 3rd which I discovered was broken. Silver links held together with string. Sent an email pointing this out but as I didn't hear anything I left neutral feedback as I thought I could repair it and bought it at a very good price anyway.
The seller then offered a partial refund to which I agreed and I offered to revise the feedback. Unfortunately I realised I couldn't in fact repair it and I would need to pay a jeweller, but that's ok as the partial refund should cover most of this. It's a bit of messing about but I'm ok with that.
Despite sending two emails over 5days I've not had a further reply. If there's no partial refund then I might just as well return it and have my money back. However, while cleaning it I've also taken the string off ready for repair and I've left the neutral feedback.
Am I still able to send it back? If it had been described as broken I wouldn't have bothered bidding at all.

I would open a claim right away. If the seller can't be bothered to play ball and you are not thats fussed anyway then yup, send it all back and get yourself a refund.0

Just launch a dispute and return it. The seller may be waiting for you to revise but that ends up as a stalemate so it's better to get it sorted IMO."Well, it's election year, Bill, we'd rather people didn't exercise common sense..." - Jed Bartlet, The West Wing, season 4

Thanks for the replies. I was worried that the seller might be picky because I'd taken the string off holding the parts together. But seems like I've no need to worry. I'll give her until the weekend to reply and then open a dispute.Saving money right, left and centre0

I know it is counter-intuitive but if this happens again don't dismantle, wash or otherwise alter the item before you have been back to the seller about it. It could also affect your entitlement to launch a dispute (!) so don't mention that you have altered the item when you do take it further."Well, it's election year, Bill, we'd rather people didn't exercise common sense..." - Jed Bartlet, The West Wing, season 4

very pleased as buyer part refunded me and repair cost a little less than I expected, so paid for petrol expenses and a cuppa with cake while I waited.Saving money right, left and centre0
