All that is attempting to do is fix the visible problem ie, the symptom, caused by poor insulation/low heating/penetrating moisture and lack of ventilation. Perm any from that list.
I'm not knocking you back, you have a rented property that you obviously want to stay in.
It's a farmhouse, traditionally heated by big open fires that prevent any chance of condensation. I am pretty sure you need more heat, but obviously any additional insulation has to be a benefit. ;)

Unless your current dehumidifyer is venting outside. There no way it can respnible for making the room colder its against the laws of physics. It will add to the room temp not make it colder
