6th form and free transport question

now it is compulsary for my daughter to stay at school until she is 17 I am trying to find out if the free school transport will still apply. We live 8 miles from the school. When my son went to 6th form a few years ago he used his ema to pay the annual bus fare through our local council. I understand ema no longer exists. I've looked online to see if because it's now compulsary to stay on until 17 the free transport will be available. Anyone know? I will apologise now if theres mistakes in this post, I'm using my mobile and can't se half of the text.

I can't answer the free transport part, but EMA was replaced by a bursary which is managed by the Sixth Form themselves. You should ring them and ask how to apply.0

It should be as they are required to stay on, but who knows!
I was wondering this as well, although my daughter is now at college
and gets the college bus which works out cheaper than the County council payable contribution.
I would ring your county council and ask the school transport department what they intend doing.
And as already advised, if your son was entitled to EMA the chances are your daughter would be entitled to some money from the Bursary fund which the government gives to the school/college instead to replace this.
As I understand it, they are given a set amount each year and this is divided amongst all those that apply, but it may differ in each school/college.0
