in Credit cards
I've just lowered my upper credit limit on a credit card to improve my score.
However my experian report scores according to proportion of available credit borrowed.
So, by lowering my credit limit, i've increased borrowing relative to available credit.
Have done the right thing?:(
any advice gratefully received, I believe I can increase my credit limit if I want to.

In the absence of any facts and figures it's impossible to say. For example...
Lowered credit limit from what to what?
Total available credit (sum of limits including O/D facilities)?
Total used credit (debt!)?
No of credit facilities (ie 3 cards, and 2 O/Ds)?
Income?
Other financial circumstances?0 -
It's not straightforward because credit scores look at a wide selection of data and typically score several things, risk of defaaulting, affordability and so on. Keeping sensible credit limits can be a factor but probably more important is keeping your utilisation rates down, both on individual cards and overall. This recent Q&A gives some guidance.
