Yeah - have had the same problem on a few machines - disabling windows update service seems to stop the problem - therefore as mentioned earlier i would imagine a dodgy windows update - probably some more anti-piracy software that cripples us that do have genuine copies.0

So ... having read through the whole of this because we are having exactly the same problem ...
.... how, exactly, in layman's terms, do we stop this, other than ending process at the start?
I am not a confident 'tinkerer' so simple steps please!!!
XP, AVG, ZA, Spybot and Adaware installed.
Thanks in advanceTaking control, slowly.:rotfl: :rotfl:0 -

Hi Chippy
Tried that, downloaded and ran the hotfix, did automatic restart and ... no joy. svchost and wauclt (or something like) way up top of processes so had to end process, then internet doesn't work until I log out and then in again a couple of times!!
Will try again later.Taking control, slowly.:rotfl: :rotfl:0 -
If the problem is for about an hour when you first start up then it might be windows update so try this
