Ebay help please!

Hi,

I've just sold my Ipad on ebay on a buy it now. The person who has bought it has paid straight away. My concern is that he only has 1 feedback.

So my questions are as follows:-

Do you think it's risky sending an item of this value to somebody who has no history?

Is it possible anyway at this late stage to withdraw the item and is it ethical?

If he has paid by Paypal am I ok?

Sorry for all the questions but am concerned. I have been putting off selling it anyway but thought there is no point it lying around the house if it isnt being used. Any help would be greatly appreciated. :o

No, it's not ethical to withdraw it. If you didn't want to sell it, or were worried about selling it on eBay, you should have reconsidered before listing it. As long as the person is not asking for it to be sent to Nigeria, then you must sell it to them.

If you'd sold it anywhere else, or sold it in a shop, then you wouldn't know what else the person had bought that day, or whether they had ever purchased something of this value before.

There's no point to buyer feedback. If it arrives damaged, yes, there will be a problem, but that would apply to any sale, to a person with 1 FB or 1,000 FB - you would still be liable.

Since they have paid, send it special delivery with appropriate insurance.

Ensure you send it quickly and properly tracked/insured and you'll be covered for any INR case or chargeback as long as you also keep your proof of posting.
Damages should be covered by the appropriate insurance.
  • Hi both thanks for your quick replies.
Crowqueen that's what I thought just wanted someone to confirm for me. Just had a bad feeling but will go ahead and post and keep my fingers crossed. Thanks for taking the time.
  • Thanks lindseykim. I will post in the morning.

Follow these steps, you should be ok.

For point number two. I would use Special Delivery not Recorded though.

As a final precaution, take a dated picture of the serial number - in case it get "broken" on the way. No need to make a big deal, but you willneed proof of which one you sent, in case a different "broken" one comes back to you.

Sometimes a little covert paranoia can be a useful thing. I'm sure it will all be fine though!
  • Hi Nicki,

thanks for that. I hadn't thought to take the serial noumber! I have just unwrapped it all and now got those details. Fingers crossed!
