DryWall - DryZone

Hi

I wonder if anyone could help.

I recently had a Damp Course installed in my property. It was injected with DryZone or DryWall (Hole drilled and back filled with this toothpaste like substance) about 2 months ago

However, when I had one of the walls recently re-plastered, I could see through the wall and noticed that I could see the toothpaste like substance but it didnt appear to have 'diffused' along the mortar cores.

How long does this process take? Should I be worried.

Thanks all

  • Does anyone have any thoughts? Maybe this is the wrong place to ask? Sorry.
  • Hi

Did the company re-plastered the walls when the Damp Course injected?
And now, did you remove that plaster and re-plastered it again?

    The "paste" might never diffuse!
Be nice, life is too short to be anything else.

Forever. The stuff doesn't diffuse anywhere, its gunk which just fills the hole that was drilled beforehand.

It probably won't do anything about rising damp either, assuming that there was rising damp in the first place, which is highly unlikely.

Unfortunately, you have probably wasted your money.
  • Penguins,
it can take up to 6 months for a silane cream (such as dryzone) to fully diffuse into the mortar joint it is put into.
However I would expect to have seen something happening after 2 months.
Give the company who installed it a ring and ask them to have a look.
Alternatively contact Safeguard directly, their website is https://www.safeguardeurope.com/
    hope this helps
The advice I give on here is based on my many years in the preservation industry. I choose to remain anonymous, I have no desire to get work from anyone. No one can give 100% accurate advice on a forum if I get it wrong you'll get a sincere apology and that's all:D

  • Yeah - The whole house was injected with the cream - then when I took the paper off in the kitchen, i noticed that the walls needed to be replastered - when they took it back to the brick, i noticed that the toothpaste like substance - but it didnt appear to have diffused into the mortar
  • hmm
sounds like you need to speak to the company who installed it, if you did it yourself then you need to talk to the manufacturer
    Hopefully it's nothing serious :)
