When to buy insurance?

My building and contents insurance with my present insurer runs out on the 29th November.

After searching offline and online I have decided that I am going with a different company, as my insurance will be £60 cheaper than my renewal premium and also my old company, with no claims, have increased my premium by £40 from last year.

So when should I buy my new insurance? Now, with a start date of 29th Nov. or wait until 28th November?

Buy I now with a start date of 29 November. Then it's all sorted.

Assuming your new insurer will honour their quote then the mse way to do it is to buy it at the last moment and keep your money in your account. Or maybe if paying by cc get another month's free credit.

My statement date is 21st of the month so I will wait until then, unless anyone thinks that Halifax will withdraw the £50 cashback deal that I can get, before then.

That is the only reason Halifax comes out the cheapest.
