Booked for not within parking bay-my car is wider than bay!!

I was parked in a 2 hour parking bay 1800mm wide (can be up to 2700mm according to D of Trans), my car is 1850mm wide (quote manufac's handbook). So I'm charged with "not parked within markings of bay"!! Even hard up against kerb it would be physically impossible to park legally.
I hope to appeal on grounds that this bay is not "fit for purpose" (no restrictions are posted prohibiting wide vehicles)
Also, I have used these bays regularly for a year without being charged - which must sanction the legality of my parking through "custom & practice" (if thats the term?)
I have photo evidence showing I was NOT causing any hazard or obstruction at the time AND several other vehicles parked in the same bays with wheels over or cutting the markings (no tickets issued!).
I welcome helpful comments & advice for my appeal. Thanks

Best advice is to take it to pepipoo forums as they can help most people win most Council PCN appeals:
http://forums.pepipoo.com/index.php?showforum=30
If you start a pepipoo thread you MUST show them pics of both sides of the PCN and all letters, and a photo of the bay lines & signs...do not start a thread there without pics. And if the thread falls further than page one of that busy forum and you need more advice then you must reply to keep your thread current and to show them all letters that arrive straight away.
Good luck! Keep a pepipoo thread current and you should win, most people do.
PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).
CLICK at the top or bottom of any page where it says:

One small point the measurement of 1850mm is that including mirrors?
A better measurement is the track of the vehicle.
My vans are 2242mm with mirrors 1904mm mirrors folded, however the track is 1628mm to centres 1748mm to outer.
So I could park wheels within the bay markings but overhang each side. A picture would be best if you go to Pepipoo.0 -

To clarify, yes the manufacturer's handbook shows my wheelbase is actually 1854mm. Allowing a minimal 8-10 cm clearance from the kerb still takes me 15cm (6inches) beyond bay markings!!!
