Has anyone had any experiences of this company.
My son has just taken out insurance with them and posted his proof of no claims bonus to them and also strangely they ask for photocopies of driving licences of all named drivers. He has sent the required copies of these a few days ago by post, today he gets a letter saying if they dont receive the copies asked for they will cancel his insurance and charge him £75 for the priveledge.
I would phone them but they dont have a proper phone number only a 09 rip off number charging £1 a minute
Is this a standard practice for asking for copies of driving licences I have never come across it before or the threats of charging you to cancel a policy??

Why not email them via the link on their website about the missing NCD proof? Probably a simple clerical error.
And it seems perfectly reasonable to have to show a paper counterpart driving licence as evidence that an applicant hasn't forgotten to declare convictions.
But if they're as inefficient as you say, lets hope you never have to contact them over a claim; still, I assume they were very cheap?,0 -
And as an afterthought- yes; once, many years ago, I screwed up and inadvertantly omitted to mail proof of something- probably a NCD - in response to an insurer's letter; and they cancelled, with a penalty, which seemed tough at the time- but was my fault.0

just emailed them ..then I saw this http://www.trustpilot.co.uk/review/www.ecarinsurance.co.uk oh dear why didnt i read this before my lad took out the policy
From these reviews looks like it not a nice company to deal with ..heres hoping its "just a clerical error" in my case0 -
I renewed my car insurance with kwik fit £162 fully comp best deal i could get but like your son i was asked to provide my proof of bonus and a copy of both parts of my driving licence i must admit in over 30 yrs of driving i have never been asked to provide a copy of my license. Maybe its a new thing not that i am bothered as my renewal was more than double what kwik fit quoted.just because you are paranoid doesnt mean to say they are not out to get you0

When i was young i had a few asking for copies of my licence, When i was 19 i did look about 15 though.
But since then i have never been asked for copes or proof of no claims. I assumed it was all done internally now.
