Numerous symptoms, looking for possible diagnosis. Hard drive is 10 months old and I am considering returning it, if you think any of these symptoms may be related to faulty hard drive.
Puter has just turned itself off, black screen.
For past few months been sluggish and non responsive. Have to log in to my page twice with password.
Nervous about turning puter off. Sometimes it won't come back on. Info screen says not shut down properly and tells me to press any key to resume - does not respond to any key. Goes to the Window screen then flips back to the info screen which has a 30 second countdown which keeps repeating.
Tower makes often makes loud grinding noises, puter still seems to work when it is doing this.
Use AVG virus daily, also frequent spyware checks. Defrag and computer clean up regularly. Why do these stupid things keep happening.

If you look on the drive manufacturers website most have diagnostic utilities that you can run - this should give a good indication if the drive is not performing as it should.0

If you have all your data bcked up, it may be worth running your manfacturer restore cd (or windows cd) and starting from scratch.
This will involve formatting the hard-drive and will help to find out whethe this is the cause of your troubles.June 2016 - Pair of Brooks Glycerin 14's

HAve you looked inside your computer, sometimes the noise issue could be related to dirty fans, dust build up.
Does your computer get hot as this could also be the issue, are you losing data?0 -
Not lost any data. No obvious dust, do I need to take the back off and clean it all out?0

When my computer gets noisy I tend to clean the fans out, this I find quietens them down.0

Despite my regular checks and thinking I was well and truly protected, have just found a TROJAN DOWNLOADER, HEURISTIC DIALER AND RISKWARE RISK in the scan. Now deleted, I hope.
Am I cured yet????0
