Oooh a question I know the answer to :D

You don't need to use Current, Default or Blank, just click Apply at the bottom :)

This is what it says in the address bar but it is not highlighted and I have no idea what it is or where it came from. I should point out this is a home computor and used by all the family but when I asked them about it no one had a clue what it was.

If you're running windows check your Start menu, under programs and startup as sometimes homepage editors will be placed there to keep them hidden.

Try changing it from a website. Go to the main site of MSE, near the top of the page in red writing it says 'make this site my homepage'. Then click the home button on your browser, does it take you to MSE or back to the other one?

What you have to do is open the page you want to use as your homepage then go to tools, select current and voila - your new homepage is set

It sound like some kind of malware has taken over... have you got Spybot or Adaware or similar? If so run them. If not download Spybot Search & Destroy and AdAware. I prefer Ewido.

Thanks Fran. I was thinking the same thing, I changed my homepage a couple of weeks ago and it kept changing back by itself, it was malware.

I've never heard of Ewido, off to check it out now, ta :D

there is a free programme called Start Guard which makes sure it locks your Homepage and warns you if anything tries to change either the homepage or search page you use.
The link is on this site as I used it for my daughter when her Homepage was being hyjacked
