Applying for jobs through reed.co.uk

Has anyone ever done this? Does anyone know if it's a good site?

It seems good to me, and I've recently applied to a couple of jobs through them. The one's I've applied for are advertised as immediate starts, and I've heard nothing yet (applied last week).

I know the employer might not think me suitable and there may be other reasons if i'm not considered.

But I'm just wondering in general if people have had a good experience with them and other sites where you upload your CV for employers to see.

I also use Monster and Prospects.

Reed is one of the better ones IMO, simply because of its ease of use.

Indeed is by far the best.

I never put my CV online, don't feel comfortable doing it.

The immediate start ones, are they agencies? I would be dubious of them in the sense they are probably dredging. Collecting as many CVs they can without there being a serious vacancy.

I have used reed before and, fingers crossed, have found a temp role through them. I went in to the office though, and after chatting to me a bit they offered me the role and asked me to apply online.

Other agencies didn't bother chatting to me, just met me at the door with an 'email your cv' and handed me the address.

I got the temp job I am currently in through Reed I applied but the agency actually found my CV and called to see if I would be interested before they had even seen that I applied.

One was an agency; transline. The other said the recruiter was reed.

    I use Indeed too.

I don't mind putting my CV on there. I've had compliments on it when I've been for interviews. I know there's the personal info stuff but anything that gets me a better job than the one i have now, i'm fine with.

Personally, I would think about the jobs you are interested in, even going to the websites you mention to find out who handles what, and then contact the agencies directly instead of through the sites. Call and ask if you can come in and register, or email your CV in directly to an agent. Those multi-agency sites get deluged with CVs, many of whom are useless, and have to be sifted using recognition software or an increasingly grumpy staff member.

I've always targeted industry-specific agencies, and got far better results than the fishing sites.

    Good luck

I apply for jobs on Reed all the time - in fact, have been doing so for years and years.

It is very rarely that I even get a reply from either agencies or employers who advertise there. Disgusting, and very, very depressing.

I use is all the time and rarely hear back from anyone unless I follow up 10 days later.

Only members (recruiters) on that site can see your cv or you have it private so it just goes over when you actually apply for a job.

I can totally empathise with you here. I rarely get a reply either.

I am FED UP WITH LIFE IN THIS COUNTRY AND THE DIFFICULTY TRYING TO GET A JOB.

  • Be wary that many of the jobs they post don't actually exist. They seem to repost the same job over and over again with slightly differently worded titles. So don't feel too disheartened if you aren't hearing back, it may be that the job isn't actually real!

I have never seen a fake job on there.
