Hi Guys
We are about to sell our '04 plate Astra as it is just sitting on our driveway as both OH and I have company cars.
It only has about 35000 miles on the clock.
A friend in Scotland said that cars sell for a lot more up there....
Is there any truth in this??? Would it be worth taking up there to sell?

From my experience of previously living in Scotland, yes cars are more expensive the further north you go. However if you are thinking of selling to a dealer/trader, they'll still give you the rock-bottom book price for it - they just like to make a larger profit!0

I think that is a myth, people will pay whatever the car is worth regardless of location.0

I know several people in Scotland who when looking to buy a car/motorbike they will happily travel a long way into England to make their purchase as vehicles are cheaper. Likewise, they will sell their current vehicle in Scotland to try an make more money.
This is most definately NOT a myth.0 -
Never heard this before, and quite surprised given that I have ordered a new car through a broker and teh supplying dealer is in scotland as it was cheaper!0

There are less cars in Scotland compared to England hence people will be prepared to pay a bit more for the right car. The reason a lot of people come from Scotland to England to buy cars is not just for the slightly lower prices but also for the larger choice of cars available. If you found my comment helpful, please click the 'Thanks' button below :T0

Ooooh afer 20 years working for a motoring magazine, most dealers from Lancashire go to Scotland.....Glasgow to buy cars to sell back down in north west of england. Cumbria is a good place to buy, but not to sell.0
