electric shower installation

Options
I'm about to replace my dead electric shower with a new one.

The old one has silicone around the outside edge, sealing between the shower unit & the tiles.

The installation instructions for the new shower specifically mention no sealant should be used.

However, without sealant whats to stop water running down the back of the shower & into the hole in the wall where the water pipe & electric cable come out?

I appreciate the ammount of water running down behind the shower unit will be small, but still unsure about this.

Any advise appreciated.

  • i always seal around the shower & the tiles leaving a gap at the bottom so if any water did get behind it can drain out the bottom
I'm only here while I wait for Corrie to start.

Remember that if you are uprating the shower, then you may also need to uprate the circuit cable and RCD.

The hole in the wall should be sealed before the shower is fixed to the wall. Therefore any water which runs down the wall won't get into the wall.
