Insurance claim against friend, help!

Im posting this on behalf of a friend as they are desperate for advice about the situation.
In June of this year my friend was behind a vehicle on a muddy country lane. the car in front slammed on brakes as a lorry approached as did my friend, so she put her brakes on too and the wheels skidded and she bumped into the back of the car in front. The speed was about 10mph at the point of impact. Damage to the car in front were a few minor scratches and the damage to my friends car was a dent in the bonnet.
Insurance details were exchanged at the scene and contact details exchanged. my friend was very apologetic and the lady seemed fine about it. My friend phoned the lady to offer to pay for any repairs to the scratches on her bumper to avoid an insurance claim and paid for the repair to her bonnet. she said she would talk to her husband about it and get back to her after her holiday.
my friend was then approached by the ladys insurance company saying she wanted to make a personal injury claim for whiplash, she denied that the lady could have had whiplash because of the speed of the incident and heard nothing more.
She has now received a letter from the ladys insurance companys solicitor today (5 months later) demanding the sum of £635 for vehicle repairs and £30 for incidental expenses (eg tel, post) ??
Is there anything that can be done to assist my friend ?

Even a stopped clock tells the right time twice a day, and for once I'm inclined to believe Withnail is right. We are indeed drifting into the arena of the unwell.

Tell her to pass everything to her insurers. Presumably she did inform them, if not at the time of the accident I hope she told them when injury was mentioned.0
