Parking ticket from ParkingEye

Good day everyone,
I would appreciate any advice and feedback you can provide me with following a letter I received from ParkingEye yesterday.
I received a ‘Parking Charge Notice’ asking for payment of £85 discounted to £50 if paid by 15/11/12.
I went to Morrisons in Coventry on Saturday the 27 October to do my weekly shop. Not only have we got Christmas coming up but it was also a few days before Halloween so I had quite a bit of shopping I needed to do.
I honestly thought the car park was free and so didn’t notice any signage. To be honest, when I first when to that shop, I wasn’t looking for any signs either (it’s the second time I have ever shopped there).
Since receiving the letter from them I have gone back to this shopping centre where I parked on the day in question and there is NO CLEAR evidence to me from leaving my car, getting a trolley and walking into the store that there are any signs telling me I was only allowed to park there for 1hr 30 minutes.
Don’t get me wrong, I have since seen some signs but they were quite far from where I parked my car on the day.
How do ParkingEye claim for reasonable parking charge losses when this particular car park does not charge and no ticket needs to be purchased?
I have been doing a lot of reading and some people say just ignore them and some people say appeal it. I don’t want to have them at my door and I don’t want to get a bad credit now because of this.
I hope this all makes sense.
Thank you

No one will turn up at your door. You cannot possibly get a bad credit rating from a private company unless you (a) sign up to a loan or credit agreement with them or (b) they have already taken you to court, they won, and you still refused to pay.
I'm assuming neither of these apply in your case.
As long as you are the registered keeper (or you know the registered keeper and they are OK with this) you can either ignore them or appeal, its up to you. Even if you lose the appeal, you can carry on ignoring them anyway.
If you aren't the registered keeper, or its a loan or hire car then let us know, slightly different advice applies.Je Suis Cecil.0 -
Clearly your reading hasn't included these forums, else you wouldn't be asking these quesitons. No-one will turn up at your door, you can't get a bad credit record without it going through a court (which won't happen), as is explained in hundreds of threads here.needsomeadvise wrote: »I have been doing a lot of reading and some people say just ignore them and some people say appeal it.
