I'm holding on for the Cowon A3. The Cowon A2 is currently regarded as the best personal media player, but the A3 will likely better it.

I've never heard of Cowon, it does looks interesting though.

This Av700TV does not seem to be that good. It seems to me the larger screens all seem to be slightly worse than their smaller counterparts and this 7inch screen seems to have been mediocre or worse than other 7 inch screens being released at the same time. As with all these kind of products this one had it's time and has been pretty much replaced. If it was a cracking machine that would not be so bad, but it really never was. Okay the price really is good, but IMHO i would rather look at the Iubi blue 30gb. You will never find the perfect item, even if it's just too expensive as it's fault. This one's problem is an awful translated manual, but firmware upgrades and proper support from the guys below should allow those that are willing to put a bit of time in will IMHO end up with a better all round product.

There is no TV or Freeview, but the general pattern seems to be smaller screen gives better picture and is pocketable, whilst larger screen is slightly worse quality and becomes more cumbersome. I repeat this larger screen was never a good one even when first released. Archos is a good brand, this was one of their lame products.

The price is tempting, but this particular model was never one of Archos's best.

i got one of these on ebay about 5 months ago...archos 700 but not the tv version...paid £250 for 80g and tv docking station version...its a fab piece of kit well worth the money!

I was watching these for over a year (drooling) and finally took the plunge a bout 2 months ago......

All I can say is it is FAB........ The freeview reception is poor in my area, but as soon as I go somewhere else, its perfect.....

A friend bought the 504 version (smaller screen) and we both reckon the AV700 is better - Less stress on the eyes.....

However, it does lack in the compatibility dept......... I've put a few video file types on it...... and there is NO sound.... - They work on other hardware inc the 504

There seems to be NO 'Codec pack' for it and it seems to have come to the end of it's life (being left behind and more interest in the 604/704 's )

Think Archos should now do a hybrid of the 704 & AV700 tv that would be preeeety cOOl

However, for those people who travel the country and want portable freeview...... BARGAIN !!

If anyone spots the Archos Mini cam going cheap for this I'd be VERY interested

also the games for the archos av700 are poor...only accepys Mophun™ games for which there are only a handfull...not that i really want to be able to play games on it but it has the "games" section and could be better
