hi, i have had new windows and doors fitted a couple of weeks ago, i have just got around to cleaning my windows.. and after spending ages trying to get rid of a dead fly (inside and out) it dawned on me..the fly is on the inside of the glass ... this could only happen to me!!! I am not sure what to do? or what to expect.. am i within my rights to ask the glazing company to replace the window/glass? or do i have to live with it (its really annoying, now i have noticed it... its all i can see !!!! anyone else ever had this problem and what shall i do!!!! :o help!!

Contact the glazing company and get them to come round and sort it out. The new windows should have some sort of guarantee on them. Make sure that you take some photos to prove that the fly is on the inside of the glass. Never heard of this before but makes you wonder what their quality control system is like? Can you post a photo on here?

  • i can't post a photo because i can't find the leads to upload ..otherwise i would .. i have never heard of this before either, i do have the fitter due to come out today to change a door handle, so i was planning on giving him a cloth and asking him to clean my window .. and let them decide it is on the inside!!! i am not to sure how a photo will prove it though? .. it just looks like a dead fly on my window..lol.. it wasn't until i tried cleaning it off i realised.. it could only happen to me!!! so do you think its acceptable they change the window?

    thanks for repying :)

Yes, I think they should replace the unit.

I worked 8 years for the UK's biggest DGU manufacturer (sales), this sort of thing happens more often than you think, if you saw the manufacturing process you'd see how and why.
I have seen DGU's with bit's of bread in (competitors), fly's. and various other things, some i believe put in by board workers.

Your supplier will replace FOC, will only take ten minutes.
