best freeby for video screen capture?

I want to record some learning videos from my PC desktop and microphone

ideally upload videos to my web space so they can be streamed straight from the web

only software I can find is Camtasia

its OK but was abandoned in 2010 so I'm wondering if there's better free by out there for this job


p.s. 'techy' is too big a subject for one forum and I always complain there's too many forums
