Renault Trafic Problem

Options
Quick question, I have a Renault Trafic 1.9 diesel, it has 150k on the clock and it starts first time every time and drives well. The problem is when it is started from cold, I can drive off ok but when i first brake it tries to die on me. This only happens the first time i need the brakes and can occur after 20yds or 200 yds, if I release the brake everthing goes ok and it doesnt happen again if I brake a second time. Any ideas?

Bumping this because it's just happened again, when I brake the revs drop as if it's going to stall then pick up again. Going to have a look see later when I get a minute, back of my mind thinking servo problem.

  • could be a servo problem, or a failing idle control valve (renault like to call them stepper motors).

just like to add that sometimes a sticky EGR valve can cause issues.

1.9 DCI unit is so faultfull, youve been lucky with this unit probably built on a good day.
