Hi, just wondering if anyone can help me
Im on DLA HRM and LRC and am currently in the ESA WRAG Group, Ive managed to find an employer who may be able to offer me 16 hours which between us are hoping to work around my disability and illness.
When or if i start working 16 hours a week how do i go about claiming working tax credits, do i have to of been working the 16 hours for so long before i can claim or can i let them know the date i will be starting, is there any documents i would need to send off to them and how much is it weekly i would be entitled to in disabled wtc
Thanks for any help

you can take part in 'permitted work' amd still claim ESA for up to 52 weeksm
its worth looking into, just to make sure that you can cope with the job first, rather than stopping your ESA claim and possibly finding you cant manage the work and then have to reclaim ESA0 -
Contac t HMRC tax credit helpline and request a claim pack-0345 300 3900 (mobile friendly phone number)
You will need info' on employer details and your payroll/work number.
You can only backdate a claim up to 1 month so be sure your within time once you have started work.
Based on your current circumstances you could receive £90 on top of your wage if single.
This depends on your previous years income, children, partner etc.
Ask your disability adviser at the Jobcentre about extra incentives in returning to work for disabled people.Forums can be/are a good guide to entitlement and it is good practice to back it up with clarification from the relevant department/specialist with written confirmation to safeguard yourself.0 -

Permitted work is 16 hours at minimum wage which is currently £99/week(1/10/12) and you would still get your ESA on top of that. WRAG being £99.15 and support group being £105.05 - that is the correct information. I should know as that is what I was getting and doing.
Hope it goes well for you.0 -
I am answering the question of how much tax credits the poster might receive if working 16 hours, he doesn't mention permitted work.Forums can be/are a good guide to entitlement and it is good practice to back it up with clarification from the relevant department/specialist with written confirmation to safeguard yourself.0

That explains the rules for people who receive ESA. OP is getting ESA WRAG so can do 16 hours at min wage for 52 weeks only - rate is last years it is now £99.50. If however you are in the support group as I am - you can do PW indefinitely if you can manage that is. I also rang the DWP and confirmed it.
Yes they can claim WTC and may even get the disability bit too, but they would need to do that 16 hours, so less than that and it would not qualify.
Am aware they did not specifically say permitted work, but that is what they mean. They also need to fill in form PW1.0
