Painting over red cedar coloured fence

Evening all.
I currently have fence panels which are red cedar coloured. Having seen a fence the other day done in what looked like cuprinol whitlow (light green/grey) colour I would like to do the same.
Would this cover the red cedar ok or not? I wouldn't particularly want to be giving it three coats at the price it is...

I think you would need to give it a few coats. I've done dark green over red cedar and it took two coats.0
