    Another quick question please..
If i do a "dell reset" will i lose all the additional things that Dell adds to XP, such as Mcafee ?
Will they need reinstalling ... or will it keep them ?
    Be nice

I am always very wary about selling PC's with hard disks that contain private information (credit card numbers etc).
People can recover reformatted disks VERY easily.

In this type of case I would buy a new cheap hard disk to put in the PC to be sold (£40) and stick the old hard disk in my new machine as the primary or secondary depending on how many programs I had installed.

It does mean changing a jumper on the disk but this is easy to do as the instructions are on the cover.

Restoring to factory settings means exactly that, how you received your computer straight from DELL.

To restore back to day one factory settings on a Dell, when you boot up and as soon as you see a blue bar with Dell at the top of a black screen, immediately press ctrL and F11
It will then ask if you are sure you want to restore to factory settings.
    It takes about 6-10 minutes.
You may find that you do not have SP2 on it and have to obtain a disk from pcworld (free) and install it.
Dell`s have the factory restore partitioned on the hard drive and no disk is needed.

Has anyone tried this and verified it is exactly as it was when laptop came, except for SP2?.
