Hi All!
I have read all the threads on slow cookers and still seem puzzled. My partner was given one by her mother when we move into together however after 14 months it still hasn't been used!
I think using a slow cooker would be perfect for our situation as we both don't fancy cooking after a long day at work!
The OH doesn't want to use the Slow Cooker at all, no matter how much I try persuade her. So I have decided that I will lead by example and make a lush meal on Wednesday for us!
The slow cooker has a high or low setting and it OLD.. still work fine however!
I have a medium size turkey breast in the fridge and would love to cook something with this, if possible?
Any ideas?0 -
I know somewhere on here is a post which has links to recipes etc, i,m sure someone will guide you in the right direction.0

Hi ikennett,
I've added your question to the slow cooker recipe thread where there are some recipes for turkey that may give you some inspiration and also many chicken recipes that could be adapted for your turkey breast.

Hello Everyone....
Dont really post here that much, but I do read a lot of the posts. Anyway I have tried a recipe in my slow cooker today and it came out fantastic....so I thought I would share...Sorry if it has already been posted somewhere...
Anyway. I bought a pack of frozen chicken thighs and defrosted them. I then took the bone out of the thighs and mixed up some dry stuffing. I then stuffed the thighs with the sage and onion stuffing and put them in the SC along with some home made chicken stock... I put the cooker on high and left them to cook for approx 4 hours and then I transfered to the oven to brown them off. I then transfered the liquid to a pan and boiled it rapidly to reduce down and served!! YUMMMMMy - nice and tender and flavoursome..
Anyway hope this helps someone...
Thankssylvia

I want to cook a curry in the slow cooker. I have some beef, and a couple of 4p sainsburys curry sauce jars, and am wondering if anyone has used anything similar? Will probably add some onion, and maybe some balti paste that we have open.0

I want to cook a beef joint in my SC for a roast dinner, and then use the leftovers to make a shepherd's pie. I read of someone else who did this on these boards, but they posted in 2005 so it's a bit late to ask them how they did it!
Usually I just make shepherd's pie with mincemeat, so what would you do with the beef? Would you just make it with shredded beef instead? Or try and chop it finely or something to make it resemble mince?0 -

I don't use the curry sauce jars, but I do use the Pataks pastes which I imagine will be similar to the balti paste you have.
I slowly fry some onions, garlic, 1 red chilli, ginger and coriander in oil; add the meat, a tin of chopped tomatoes, 1/2 jar of paste, 500 ml stock, 3 tablespoons of balsamic vinegar, and a couple of handfuls of red lentils. Then I slow cook it on low for about 3.5 - 4 hours.

Hi everyone (new here)
gotta beef Curry Recipe I would like to share.
Cheers Mike
Tasty creamy Beef Curry... Done in a RH 6 litre crock. You need:
Tin chopped tomatoes.
4 large onions.
Olive oil and a large knob of butter.
6 heaped teaspoons of Madras curry powder (it’s not too hot, add more curry powder if you like)
4 garlic cloves if you like garlic.
3lb cubed beef.
3 heaped dessert spoons of flour and plastic bag
Bovril for stock
Teaspoon of salt
Peeled and chopped apple
Handful of sultanas/raisins if you like
2 pots natural yogurt
Same amount of double cream
Cornflour / water to thicken.
Put tin of toms in the crock pot
Chop 2 onions fine and 2 onions rough and in a large saucepan fry off in olive oil and butter until softened, add curry powder and continue to fry for 3 or 4 mins, add to the crock pot.
Make up about ¾ of a pint of stock with 1 or 2 dessert spoon of Bovril, swill out the saucepan the onions were cooked in and add.
Crush and chop the garlic and add.
Flour and salt the beef in a plastic bag and add.
Add sultanas/raisins and chopped apple.
Give everything a good stir and cook for 8hrs on low.
About 75 mins before finish add the yogurt and cream and cornflour.
Goes very well with brown rice and chips with plenty of curry sauce for the chips. :beer:0
