Virgin vs Capital One

Would just like everyones opinion as to what is the best option for me?
I have approx 10k on 0% BT egg due to expire within the next 2 months (6k stooze, 4k loan).
A kind MSE poster sent me an 18m cap.one application card but after reading about the dubious practices of cap.one I am quite wary of filling it in. As I see it they may give me 18m 0% but it might be a tiny credit limit or they may give 6m BT instead. Of course theres a chance that they will honour the agreement laid out on the application but this is looking less likely (the application is valid until 1/8/05). Also there is a BT fee.
Virgin does seem better as the credit limit will likely be higher and there are no fees, but its for 9m rather than 18m.
I am not keen on applying for the cap.one card if they are going to give me a crap offer as it will likely affect my credit score.
I am strongly considering the Virgin card but is this the right choice?

Would love your opinions.

Sterling.

Why not apply for both at the same time?

Because you apply together it's unlikely that the respective credit searches will show up on your file.

I think this is a trick commonly in use on these boards...
The above facts belong to everybody; the opinions belong to me; the distinction is yours to draw...

I would suggest you go for one of them then if you get it leave a month (or more) before going for the other. There is currently no reason for panic, you need a home for your £4K debt, anything else is a bonus surely?
  • Cheers for the advice, just got a halifax one application in the post aswell! Will read the T&C first though. I think its likely I will apply for the Virgin card as I really don't trust Capital One all that much. Also when Virgin is up for renewal it will be Xmas so I am hoping there will be some sweet deals around.

I suspect the limit on the Capital One won't be that great, but Virgin are well known for giving decent limits. OK, it's only 9 months but that's still pretty good going especially when so many other cards are drifting towards BT fees. The really good thing about the Virgin is the £5 min. payment which makes it ideal for stoozers.
