LLoyds TSB - Fraud

  • The lady from the fraud team at LLoyds Tsb, gave the impression she believed it would of been someone who lives at the same address as myself, which would be my mother or father, firstly my mother is female so alarm bells would of been ringing as im a male, and secondly how is a 62 year old male going to pass as a 24 year old male. I do not believe they have followed there own security checks and clearly by the looks of it no additional ID was requested for the transaction.

The lady said they would refund the money which they have if I agree to close my account, which I replied well if that's what you need to do for me to get my money back then that's fair enough. I then advised about direct debits, wages etc she then advised me she will leave 14 days for me to get these changed and then the account closed.

Personally I dont think the branch performed the proper security checks and are trying to fob it off with a lame excuse as its someone in the household without viewing the cctv footage for evidence as to who it may be.
  • Update :

They have now decided to reverse there decision to close my account, they are viewing cctv to see if they can identify the person, when I asked them dont they want to see my ID to confirm that the person doing this is not me they said no.

    How strange.

Good thing too that they reversed their decision to close your account, especially since they have to give at least 30 or 60 (I can't honestly remember which, I think it's 30) days' notice, not the paltry 14 they "generously" gave you, except in cases where (for instance) you verbally or physically abused a bank's member of staff, where they can close it immediately.

Were they to stick to that, their complaints team would either see sense and fix it or the Financial Ombudsman would don horseshoes and dance on their fingers.

  • so did they allow you to watch the footage?

If not, then can it suggest that it was the worker who ordered you the new card? Even if she did have the card, how did she find out your pin?
