The government used to fund the ECDL but the money has now moved to other subject areas. To the best of my knowledge there's no way of getting it for free anymore but I'll be interested to hear if anyone knows anything different.
  • I am doing the ECDL free of charge through my UNI as i wrk for them part time. It is worth asking your employer to fund you through this course if it has a revlevance to your job.

Ive just completed a free ECDL course via my university. It was a pilot scheme which seemed to be successful so It may be worth asking your uni. To be honest Im not sure that the amunt of people that signed up actually completed it. I think they saw it was free and signed up then never put the effort in to finish it so even if a course is full it migth be worth asking if ppl drop out could you complete the exam.
