Natwest Mastercard PPI Help

Hi,

Hope someone can help - I believe I was missold PPI in respect of my old Natwest Mastercard as I have no evidence of ever agreeing to it so I sent the template letter to the RBS/Natwest PPI address from the website.

I have now received a response explaining that they are unable to progress the matter further due to :-

"The Policy provider you have stated has no affiliation with the Royal Bank of Scotland Group. Please redirect your correspondence to the appropriate company." Unquote.

Sorry to sound stupid but I am now somewhat confused with their response and what should I do next ?

Should I complete a SAR Letter ? If so what address should I forward it to ?

Any help advice would be very much appreciated as at a loss at the moment.

Just because you have no recollection does not mean it was mis-sold.

Something in your letter has made them think that you are not complaining about a Natwest product. Did you state it was a Natwest credit card? Or did you use the name of a insurer or someone else?

    Thanks for your reply dunstonh.

I did not require the PPI at the time as I had sufficient cover from employer's benefits that would cover my repayments but do remember them telling me that it was required to take out the insurance.

I clearly stated the facts in my letter and mentioned that it was in respect of my Natwest Mastercard account.

Sorry that previous comments were not suffice but would appreciate some guidance as who to contact next.

It sounds like it is an error on their part then. You need to go back to them and point out that it was a Natwest card and therefore the responsibility of the Natwest complaints department to deal with it.

    OK will do and thanks
  • Hi,

I called Natwest on 0800 015 0319 to register my PPI complaint, gave all the information over the phone and have to say they have been the most helpful and efficient of the 3 banks I have put claims in with.

    Good Luck
  • I have just registered my claim. My credit card dates back to when I was a student in 1989 and I was told I had to have the PPI as it was mandatory. However Natwest have said as their records only go back to 2001 I will need proof that I held the card before this date. Thats a whole 12 years PPI ! Has anyone else had this?

Banks only have to keep information for as long as necessary, so expecting them to have it from 23 years is a bit naive.
