Fog lights staying on problem

Can anyone give me a clue on the following:-

On my 1999 Toyota Corolla, if I turn the front fog lights on - I can't turn them off again - unless I physically pull the connector switches out.

The fog light switch on the dashboard is switched off, the fog light switch next to the handbrake is switched off, the light switch is switched off and the ignition is switched off.

Er... no... because I've pulled the connectors out - they're now off permanently.

But they should turn off by one of the switches mentioned.

My guess is a bad earth, but I haven't a clue where to look (not auto electrician).

From your description, it sounds like the relay is probably at fault. You could confirm this by swapping the fog light relay with another from your car temporarily to test it (needs to be the same rating). If that fixes your problem, buy a replacment. Your owners manual should identify which relay is the culprit. You could also test it with a multimeter but how you go about this depends on what type it is
