Ey Up guys, I'm after a recommendation for video editing software, it must:-

1. be free (obviously ;) )
2. Not be time-limited, i.e. not a 30-day trial
3. Edit a full film's-worth, not just first 10 mins :(
4. Not put watermarks on the edited copy.

I always seem to go round in circles with this, so any help would be appreciated :)

I've used Windows Movie Maker before now.
It's free (providing you have Windows), easy to use (must be if I can use it) and can edit some seriously large files (think it uses the HDD if it runs out of RAM).

No watermarks and you can add voice-overs, music etc.
It won't do anything fancy but it might be worth a look.

Any posts are my opinion and only that. Please read at your own risk.

  • Humm it really depends what what you want to do,
if its adding effects then your probably need to pay, if its just cutting, trimming and joining then virtualdub is good,

    What OS you running ?
Their are lots of free ones for linux and even mac but I'll assume your on Windows so try *Lightworks or Jahshaka

Hope this helps and Good luck in your search

  • I think Lightworks is good but the catch is the output, but you can export to mov and then convert using some free converion software :)
see here, but without knowing your requirements its hard to say
